천선란은 SF문학을 중심으로 다양한 글을 집필하는 젊은 작가이다. 작가의 소설에는 많은 자연물이 상징적으로 등장한다. 정해져있는 하루 9시간의 루틴 중 3시간은 자연을 즐기며 산책하는 시간인 만큼, 작가의 삶에서 자연은 큰 부분을 차지하고 있다. 그래서 자연과 밀접하게 어우러지는 주택을 설계하고자 하였다.
외부 미팅이 잦은 작가의 특성상 작업실 너머에 주택을 두어 프라이버시를 보호하며, L자형 매스를 사용해 작업실과 주택 모두에 개별적인 마당을 두었다. 작업실 마당은 생울타리로 둘러싸여 비밀스러운 느낌을 자아내며, 아늑함과 포근함을 느낄 수 있다. 이와는 대비되게, 주택 부분의 마당은 두 면이 외부의 녹지공원과 맞닿아 있어 더욱 개방적인 느낌을 준다. 이를 통해, 작가는 주택 내부 어디서나 다채로운 자연을 즐길 수 있다.
Cheon Seon-ran is a young science-fiction writer whose work often features symbolic elements of nature. Since she spends three of her nine daily routine hours walking outdoors, nature plays a central role in her life. The house is therefore designed to blend closely with its natural surroundings.
To maintain privacy despite her frequent external meetings, the residence is placed behind the studio, forming an L-shaped layout with two separate courtyards. The studio courtyard is enclosed by a living hedge for a secluded, cozy atmosphere, while the residential courtyard opens onto a green park, creating a more expansive sense of openness. This allows the writer to enjoy nature from anywhere inside the home.
